About Us
Meet the Tranquilo Surf Team
Twenty five years in these waters, one simple idea: show up, feel like family, and have the best day of your trip.
It started with one guy who knew every wave in the bay.
Josue grew up in Punta de Mita and has spent over twenty five years surfing and running boats along this coast. In 2000 he founded Tranquilo Surf Adventures with one goal: share the everyday magic of his hometown with the people who visit it. What started as one local showing friends his favorite breaks turned into the surf school and tour company you are looking at today.
“Mi casa, su casa.”
That is the phrase Josue built this company around, and it still shows in how every day runs. Small groups, real attention, and a team that treats guests like family, not customers. Safety comes first, the ocean and the local community come second, and everything else follows from there. Josue knows the Bay of Banderas the way most people know their own backyard, every break, every hidden beach, every spot where the whales show up on time.

Same Vibe, More Ocean
New tours, new site, same easygoing, local first way of doing things.
The people who make the days good.
Tranquilo Surf is not a one man show anymore, even if Josue still leads the way. Chano grew up blocks from the beach and has spent his life on a board. Jonathan learned to fish and handle a boat from his family, and now gets guests safely to some of the best spots in the bay. Everyone on this team is from Punta de Mita, and it shows in the way they guide a day.
Why Punta de Mita.
Punta de Mita sits at the edge of the Bay of Banderas, with warm water, consistent breaks for every level, and some of the richest marine life on Mexico’s Pacific coast. It is a small town with a big ocean, home to some of the best surf spots in the region and a launch point for trips out to the Marietas Islands and beyond. Whether you’re visiting for your very first surf lesson or chasing more advanced waves, the area offers a relaxed atmosphere, stunning coastal scenery, and year-round opportunities to enjoy the ocean. Local beaches, friendly surf culture, breathtaking sunsets, and easy access to nearby hidden coves make every visit memorable, both in and out of the water. There is a lot more to say about this place, and a dedicated Punta de Mita page on this site will go deeper into it soon.
